Marvel at animals from around the world at Hellbrunn<\/div>

With around 1500 animals and 150 different species, the former \u201cTiergarten Hellbrunn\u201d promises a fascinatingly delightful experience. From pygmy mice to white rhino, all sizes and shapes of creature are represented – and from different continents. The Africa section of the zoo is particularly popular, featuring a broad Savanna-like area and a lion house. Eurasia attracts visitors with red pandas, Alpine ibex and brown bears. From the Americas, you will get to see sloths and lowland tapirs, amongst others. Australia is also represented, for example with Parma wallabies.<\/p>

The unique zoo grounds of Hellbrunn<\/div>

The broad, 14-hectare grounds provide plenty of space for broad and very open enclosures. Salzburg Zoo is committed to keeping the animals in a habitat that is as near-natural as possible. The characteristics of the different habitats blend beautifully with the landscape features of Hellbrunn itself: from imposing rock faces to hilly riparian countryside.<\/p>

The\u00a0petting farm<\/div>

More than\u00a0300,000 annual visitors can look forward to a number of special program highlights. The wild creatures, both domestic and exotic, regularly treat us to the sight of newborns. And the native animals in the petting zoo always appreciate a loving hug.<\/p>

A Zoo with History<\/div>

The area of today\u2019s zoo in the south of Salzburg City was actually already a wildlife park for the prince-archbishops back in the 15th century. The Hellbrunn estate, including the palace, fountains and zoo, was planned by archbishop Markus Sittikus in 1612 and completed in 1619. Today, Salzburg Zoo is dedicated to providing a modern habitat in which to showcase and protect nature and animal species – always an absolute highlight for all the youngsters!<\/p><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
