The Salzburg Museum has garnered numerous awards, an institution with its own unique character housed within the magnificently restored Neue Residenz. Aside from aesthetic presentations and valuable art objects, a number of multimedia installations also invite visitors to marvel and learn.<\/p>

Salzburg up close<\/div>

During their reigns, the Salzburg prince-archbishops shaped the city and province in a multitude of ways. But aside from the spiritual and secular leaders, a series of other interesting men and women have done their part to enrich Salzburg as well. On the first floor of the museum an exhibition is dedicated to them, focused on themes that include art, science, architecture, literature, music, photography, the working world and craftsmanship.<\/p>

Treasures of the Past<\/div>

The treasure chamber entitled \u201cArchaeology and the Middle Ages\u201d can be found in the Mirror Hall on the second floor of the Salzburg\u00a0Museum<\/a>. \u00a0The unique pieces, which include the Celtic beaked jug, the helmet from Pass Lueg and a Gothic winged altar by the \u201cMaster of Virgo inter Virgines\u201d take visitors on a journey back into the distant past.<\/p>

The Panorama Passage<\/div>

The Panorama Passage is s subterranean walkway connecting the Salzburg\u00a0Museum<\/a>\u00a0with the Panorama\u00a0Museum<\/a>. Along the passage, visitors are able to view archaeological excavations from the Neue Residenz as well as models of the city, art objects as well as historical data about the development of Salzburg from Roman times to the present.<\/p>

The Art Hall<\/div>

The Art Hall of Salzburg\u00a0Museum<\/a>\u00a0lies beneath the inner courtyard of the Neue Residenz. It is a multi-function hall divided into two sections and featuring one continuous lighted ceiling. Every year, three major special exhibitions are presented in this extraordinary location.<\/p>
