Today, it serves as the backdrop for the most romantic weddings you could possibly imagine.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><\/div><hr \/><div class=\"js-readmore-container readmore--opened\"><div class=\"wysiwyg wysiwyg js-readmore readmore\"><div class=\"h3\">Experience Mirabell Palace<\/div><p><b>Mirabell<\/b>\u00a0is a woman\u2019s name from Italy, a compilation of two words:\u00a0<i>mirabile<\/i>\u00a0&#8220;admirable&#8221; and\u00a0<i>bella<\/i>\u00a0&#8220;beautiful&#8221;.<\/p><p>The\u00a0<b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.salzburg.info\/en\/magazin\/scenes\/the-marble-hall-at-schloss-mirabell_a_273514\">Marble Hall<\/a><\/b>, the former banquet hall of the prince-archbishops, is generally regarded as one of the &#8220;most beautiful wedding halls in the world&#8221;. In former times, the likes of Leopold Mozart and his children, Wolfgang and Nannerl, made music here. Nowadays, it regularly hosts weddings, conferences and awards ceremonies. The Marble Hall also provides an atmospheric venue for the SchlossKonzerteMirabell concerts. The\u00a0<b>&#8220;Angel Staircase&#8221;<\/b>, which leads up to the Marble Hall, is decorated with numerous cherubs.<\/p><p>Mirabell Palace looks back on a colorful history. Today, Mirabell Palace is home to municipal offices as well as those of the mayor of Salzburg.<\/p><div class=\"h3\">Mirabell Gardens \u2013 Baroque pleasure gardens in the heart of the city<\/div><p>The Mirabell Gardens were completely redesigned under archbishop Johann Ernst von Thun in 1690. The underlying geometrical form, which is typical for the Baroque period, is still clearly recognizable. The visual orientation towards the cathedral and fortress adds to the grandeur of the gardens \u2013 simultaneously incorporating them into the overall historical ensemble of the city.<\/p><ul><li>The\u00a0<b>Pegasus Fountain<\/b>\u00a0featuring a sculpture of the horse, Pegasus, is a work by Kaspar Gras from Innsbruck and was installed in 1913.<\/li><li>Located around the\u00a0<b>Grand Fountain\u00a0<\/b>(the fountain pool) are four groups of figures by Ottavio Mosto (1690). They symbolize the 4 elements: fire, air, earth and water.<\/li><li><b>Palace Chapel:<\/b>\u00a01726 consecrated to St. Johannes Nepomuk, since 1921 church of the Old Catholics.<\/li><li>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.salzburg.info\/en\/events\/event-venues\/heckentheater\"><b>Hedge Theater<\/b>\u00a0<\/a>can be found in the western section of Mirabell Gardens. It is one of the oldest hedge theatres north of the Alps. During the summertime, it serves as the venue for folk-heritage events and other special occasions.<\/li><li>The\u00a0<b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.salzburg.info\/en\/magazin\/scenes\/the-salzburg-dwarf-garden_a_274269\">Dwarf Garden<\/a><\/b>\u00a0originated during the rule of archbishop Franz Anton F\u00fcrst Harrach. It originally consisted of 28 dwarves (nowadays 17) made from white Untersberg marble and is the oldest of its kind in Europe.Closed during winter months.<\/li><li>The\u00a0<b>Rose Garden<\/b>\u00a0with its ornamental rose beds is located directly south of Schloss Mirabell.<\/li><li>The\u00a0<b>Orangery\u00a0<\/b>functions today as a palm house.<\/li><\/ul><div class=\"h3\">Mirabell Gardens \u2013 famous movie location<\/div><p>Mirabell Gardens, along with the Felsenreitschule and Nonnberg Convent, is one of the most important shooting locations from the famous Hollywood musical\u00a0<a class=\"pimcore_glossary\" href=\"https:\/\/www.salzburg.info\/en\/salzburg\/the-sound-of-music\">\u201cThe Sound of Music\u201d<\/a>. In the film, Maria and the children dance around the Pegasus Fountain in front of the palace, singing the song \u201cDo Re Mi\u201d. At the end of the scene, the\u00a0<a class=\"pimcore_glossary\" href=\"https:\/\/www.salzburg.info\/en\/salzburg\/the-sound-of-music\/trapp-family\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trapp family<\/a>\u00a0stand on the steps in front of the Rose Hill and sing the song\u2019s final bars. At the same time, viewers are enchanted by unique views across Mirabell Gardens towards the
