There\u2019s always a good reason for a short break, whether it\u2019s to find some sunshine, because you have a few days off or because you like to explore new places.<\/strong><\/p>

If you have a few days to spare,\u00a0Lisbon<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0Porto<\/a>\u00a0are worth a visit. It\u2019s a short hop from anywhere in Europe and the\u00a0cities are easy to visit<\/strong>, with many sights,\u00a0good food<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0lots of entertainment<\/strong>. And the fact that both are located by a\u00a0river<\/a>\u00a0gives them a special atmosphere, particularly in the mild climate of autumn or spring, when the\u00a0light takes on amazing hues<\/strong>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Even if you only have a short time in Portugal,\u00a0it’s easy to travel to other places<\/strong>\u00a0to learn more about the history and heritage of the Portuguese or to take a walk in\u00a0nature<\/a>\u00a0and simply feel the clean air of the protected areas.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

For anyone who is in Porto, the cities of\u00a0Braga<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Guimar\u00e3es<\/a>\u00a0(the latter a World Heritage Site),\u00a0Ger\u00eas<\/a>\u00a0National Park,\u00a0Arouca Geopark<\/a>\u00a0and the River\u00a0Douro<\/a>\u00a0are options worth considering. Yet if you\u2019re in Lisbon, the World Heritage Site of\u00a0Sintra<\/a>, the Estoril Coast, and the\u00a0natural parks of the River Tagus<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0River Sado<\/a>\u00a0estuaries are all close by. Alongside the Sado, there\u2019s also the\u00a0Arr\u00e1bida Natural Park\u00a0<\/a>and the towns of\u00a0Palmela, Sesimbra and Set\u00fabal<\/a>, which offer a beautiful outlook over the sea. A little further south, but only an hour drive,\u00a0\u00c9vora<\/a>\u00a0is another World Heritage Site. So, too, are the Monasteries of Alcoba\u00e7a and Batalha, north of the capital, shortly after the mediaeval walled town of\u00a0\u00d3bidos<\/a>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
