Itinerary

01

1st day Athens – panoramic city tour

Arrival at Eleftherios Venizelos Airport. Our transfer will be waiting for you at the airport. After boarding our luxurious vehicle, sit back and relax as the driver transports you to the center of Athens for a panoramic tour showing the highlights of the city. We will see the Hadrian’s Arch and the Temple of Zeus and after to the Constitution square called "Syntagma" where the presidential guard, called "Evzonos", is in front of the Greek parliament and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Then we will pass by the Presidential Residence and the Panathinaikos stadium that was originally built in 329aC, where the first Olympics of the modern era in 1896 were held. Dinner and transfer to the Hotel for check in. Overnight in Athens. (Dinner)

2nd day Athens – city tour – Acropolis – Museum

Breakfast and get ready for the most amazing city tour through history, which gives you an opportunity to observe the striking contrasts that make Athens such a fascinating city!! We will start our tour with Acropolis, the Architectural Masterpieces in the world of the Golden Age of Athens: The Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion and finally "the harmony between material and spirit", the monument that "puts order in the mind", the Parthenon. Then we will visit the New Acropolis Museum which is only 300m. away from the sacred rock of Acropolis and where at last 4000 priceless statues found their home and admire the wonders of the classical era. We continue with a walk to the ancient Agora (Market) of Athens. The Ancient Agora, where the place that ancient Greeks used to do their trades, but also used to gather to discuss city matters, thus, creating the idea of Democracy. It’s a magnificent walking tour, there we will see the Stoa of Attalos, originally erected during the 2nd cent. BC as a gift of the king of Pergamon, Attalos II, to Athens and was one of the world's first shopping malls, which was 116 meters in length and two floors high, supported by Doric, Ionic and parchment columns. Then we will see the temple of Hephaestus, more widely known as Thisio, which is probably built around 460-420 B.C. by an unknown architect. Then we will have free time at Plaka, which is the oldest neighborhood in Athens the picturesque quarter of the city, where there are little shops with handmade crafts and Monastiraki, the Flea Market, where you can have a pleasant walk. Dinner. Return at the Hotel. Overnight Athens. (Breakfast, Dinner)

3rd day Athens – Attica Riviera – Cape Sounio - Athens

Breakfast and have free time. Then at afternoon we will drive along the south coast to the Athenian Riviera, which will allow you to easily reach the otherwise hard-to-get-to Sounion. Once there, you will be dazzled by the famous landscapes that surround Sounion. In the times of the ancient Greeks, this site was revered as sacred ground dedicated to the gods Poseidon and Athena. You can marvel at the Temple of Poseidon, which perched upon the cliff’s edge 70 meters above the sea. You can then stand upon the same cliff where it is said King Aegeus threw himself off. The tale is told in Greek mythology that Aegeus told his son Theseus that if he defeated the Minotaur, he should return to Athens with ships bearing white sails. Theseus forgot this request, and when Aegeus saw Theseus’ black sails, he threw himself from the Sounion in despair. While here, you can watch the sunset over this legendary horizon. Dinner. Return at the Hotel. Overnight Athens.

4th day Athens – Full day Delphi

Breakfast and today you will explore the most famous sights of ancient Greece on this day trip to magical Delphi, where the oracle once fore. Departing from Athens, travel to Delphi, located on the spur of Mount Parnassus, enjoying a short stop in the picturesque town of Arachova. Arrive in Delphi, and visit the famous theatre, where you will enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and get an insight into the world of the Ancient Greeks. Visit the Temple of Apollo, the center of Ancient Greece, and best-known for its famous oracle. Tour the Museum of Delphi, home to a unique bronze Charioteer, the Naxian Sphinx, and the Statue of Antinoos, providing an amazing insight into Ancient Greek culture and history. After a break, visit Athena Pronaia Sanctuary, the most photographed spot in Delphi. Then, head back to Athens via the beautiful mountain village of Arachova, situated on the hills of the Parnassus Mountains, where the tour will stop for a short photo opportunity. Return to Athens. Dinner. Overnight Athens. (Breakfast, Dinner)

5th day Athens:

Breakfast and transfer to airport to take your flight back home. (Breakfast)
